Layla Al Darazi, “Layla Aziz Homsi”, was born in Zahle, Lebanon on April 7th, 1937. Her Dad, Aziz, and Mom, Chafica, are both dead in Zahle, Lebanon. Layla was one of 7 siblings: Ejenin, Nouha, Souad, Josephine, Toni, Minerva, and George.
She was married to Michael Al Darazi, who passed away in 2000. After staying In Zahle for short time, she moved to Maharde, Syria. She finally came to the USA after her daughter’s marriage, Eliana.
She had nine children -- 5 sons and 4 daughters whom were born in Maharde, Syria: Hanan, Pierre, Ledia, Naim, William, Eliana, Nabiha, Nelson, and Andre. She was a stay at home mom all of her life to raise all of her children.
Layla was a multi-talented woman that taught herself anything she needed to do. From cooking her favorite Lebanese recipes from scratch to sewing beautiful wedding accessories, she always kept herself busy.
One of her favorite hobbies was growing her own fresh fruits and vegetables from a seed. She also loved raising her own animals on her mini farm. She would do anything to keep all nine of her children happy and healthy everyday.
She lived as a true, religious woman -- always reading, listening, & watching all things God. She put God above all, and spent most of her time praying the words of God until her last breathe.
Staying more than 15 years in many nursing homes, she never complained about life. She would always express emotional thanks to everyone who cared for her and spread genuine love and kindness everyday.
Layla will always be remembered for making the best of every situation and putting everyone's needs ahead of herself. She was known as a “living Saint” by most who knew her, and is now an actual Saint in heaven praying and blessing all of us.
