Daniel Canning Sr. Obituary

On January 13, 2021, Daniel Walter Canning Sr died as a result of his long battle with alcoholism and liver disease. Dan was the second of five children of Kenneth Gerald Canning Sr and Virginia O’Neil both of Boston.

Dan is survived by his wife of 34 years, Michelle Palmarin Canning, his daughter Patricia Catherine Canning, his son Daniel Walter Canning Jr and his granddaughter Isabella Hazel Cottrell. He is survived by his bonus father, Tom Menihan of Boston and his four siblings. His brothers Ken Canning of Vermont and Thomas Canning of Boston. His sisters Virginia Walter of Dedham and Jennifer Canning of Boston. As well as nine nieces and nephews.

Dan loved spending time with family, barbequing in his backyard or watching movies. His favorite weekend would be Red Sox in the World Series, Patriot pre-season game and burgers on the grill. Dan was a proud member of Plumbers’ union local 12. He took great pride in all the construction he was involved with as Boston grew. He enjoyed the brotherhood between all the Local 12 members. Dan felt spiritually connected with nature, he would escape CCD class to feed squirrels on the Commons. When healthy he enjoyed hiking the Blue Hills.

Dan left his mark on many people, he will be greatly missed.
