Antonio Fornaro Obituary

Antonio Fornaro, born on July 29, 1919, also known as Nino, was born in Messina, Sicily, Italy. He grew up in a small town called Sparta’ of approximately 150 people. While living in Sparta’ he grew up living with his sister, Angela, as his mom and dad passed away at a young age. He worked hard as an asphalt layer and in 1952 married his love of his life, Antonina and had three children Maria, Giuseppe and Domenica. In 1970, Antonio and Antonina decided to move to America for a better life and opportunity for their family.  When they moved to America they moved to Hyde Park and within a short time both gained employment at factories, Antonina worked at a curtain factory and Antonio at Stride Rite.

Once established they were able to provide a home and a better future for the family. Antonio and Antonina saw their family grow, get married and have their own children. Antonio particularly loved to grow vegetables. He definitely had the green thumb in making everything and anything grow. He was so proud to share the earth goods with all of his friends and family.  In addition, he also loved dancing, singing, telling riddles, playing cards with his friends and particularly spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Antonio passed peacefully on February 17th, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 99. Beloved husband of the late Antonina (Pirrone); devoted father of Maria Melillo and her husband Tommaso of Revere, Giuseppe and his wife Monica of Tennessee, and Domenica Cuscina and her late husband Mario of Mansfield; loving "Nonno" of Patrizia, Maria Luisa, Cristina, Loredana, Giuseppe A., and Antonya, and Giovanni; also survived by seven great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
