Bruce Tinglof Obituary

Bruce Warren Tinglof was born Dec. 5, 1933 in Waltham MA, the son of a Swedish immigrant and Massachusetts native, Elvie and Carl. Bruce grew up in Canton MA with three siblings, Richard (of New Hampshire), and the late Carl and June Tinglof. He was a lifelong member of Forest Hills Covenant Church (formerly Covenant Congregational Church), and was a great grandson of the founding pastor. He served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, property board member, treasurer, bacon boy, and chief coffee maker. Bruce entered the army during the Korean War and served four years before enrolling in Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, PA where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree. He worked as a claims adjuster for Shelby Mutual Insurance for 35 years, and United Claims for 10. He married Charlene Bennis in 1973, and enjoyed 45 years of marriage. He was loving father and father-in-law to Michael Tinglof and his wife Maria, Elizabeth Tinglof and her partner Sam, and Rev. Christina Tinglof and her husband Michael, and loving Grampa to Seth and George Tinglof. He always had time for a good meal and conversation, and enjoyed model trains, working around the house, and art. He died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, Feb 3, at 12:30am at Hebrew Senior Life, where he had been cared for by loving nurses, doctors and CNAs for almost three years.  Donations in Bruce's memory will be appreciated to Elsa Storm Scholorship Fund, c/o Forest Hills Covenant Church.
