Sheka A. Kargbo, a beacon of love and faith, passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 29, 2024, in Boston, Massachusetts. Born on February 12, 1955, in Lunsar, Sierra Leone, Sheka's journey of life was marked by passion, education, and service, touching the hearts of everyone who knew him.

Sheka, as he was affectionately called, was the cherished husband of Miriam Kattumuri Kargbo, with whom he shared 16 beautiful years of marriage since their union in 2007 in Boston, MA. He was the devoted son of the late Ali and Hawa Kargbo and a loving father to their children Sheka, Aliyah, Ruth and Samuel, and his three older children Fatima, Iesha, and Amena. His warmth extended to his siblings Momodu, Abi, and Nenejoh Kargbo. His legacy flourishes through his cherished extended family which includes in-laws’ nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and a myriad of friends who were all touched by his kindness and compassion.

Sheka's pursuit of knowledge led him to high school graduation in Africa and later to the attainment of a Master's Degree in Education from Cambridge College in 1995. His dedication to learning was a testament to his belief in the power of education to transform lives.

For over 15 years, Sheka was the proud owner of Teligent Realty, where he excelled as a Realtor Broker. His acumen in business and his desire to contribute positively to the community led him to serve on the Board of Advisers for Miriam's Earthen Cookware. His wisdom and guidance were invaluable to the organization, helping it serve its customers not just in Massachusetts but around the world.

Sheka lived a life exemplified by the fruits of the spirit: charity, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, generosity, gentleness, faithfulness, modesty, self-control, and chastity. He wished to be remembered for his good heart and the positive impact he made on so many lives. Travel was a passion of his, exploring not only the expanse of New England but also various cultures and places around the globe including India and Africa. Sheka's love for culinary arts shone through his cooking, and he took great pleasure in entertaining loved ones.

A man of profound faith, Sheka was a devoted Christian and an active member of his church communities. He was a strong parishioner of Waters Church in Norwood for over a decade and an avid attendee at Blue Hill Community Church in Hyde Park. His dedication to serving God and others was evident in his active involvement in church activities and his daily life.

Family was the cornerstone of Sheka's life. He cherished every moment spent with them, whether it was through engaging conversations about life with his wife, his close friends, or simply the joy of gathering with his family. His presence exuded love and a sense of peace that brought comfort to those around him.

Words that best describe Sheka are kind, loving, and faith filled. He was a man who lived by his values and continually sought to make the world around him a better place. His legacy is one of love, service, and an unwavering commitment to his faith and family.

As we bid farewell to Sheka A. Kargbo, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life that will continue to inspire and guide us.
