Marie Elaine Moan passed away in Winchester, Virginia near her home in Fort Valley, Virginia on Saturday, March 23, 2019. Daughter of the late George and Mary Frances (Thomas) Fisk. She grew up in Dedham and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse from the Holy Ghost Hospital School of Nursing in Cambridge. She met the late Kenneth Lee Moan at a Red Cross First Aid Class in Boston and married him the day after Christmas in 1966 at St. Mary's in Dedham just before he reported for Army language school. Marie traveled with him around the country and spent almost sixteen years with him in Germany, including Berlin where her daughters Christine and Carolyn (Moan) McHenry were born and Mount Meisner, Augsburg and Birgelen. After Ken's retirement from the Army, she lived with him in Burke and Manassas, VA before settling in Fort Valley. During her life, Marie was a pediatric and geriatric nurse as well as a dental assistance.
Marie was a woman of great faith and a daily communicant throughout her life who brought communion to the sick for many years, right up to getting sick a few months ago.
She is survived by her daughter Christine of Fort Valley and Carolyn and the late Mark McHenry of Strasburg, Virginia; grandchildren Joshua, David and Natasha McHenry; and great grandson Karsyn McHenry.
She is also survived by her brothers Allan (Darlene) Fisk of S. Dennis and Raymond (Sue Ann) Fisk of Norton and Sister Julia (Raymond) Mosley of Cheverly, Maryland as well as by many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Services will be held at Carroll-Thomas Funeral Home, 22 Oak Street in Hyde Park at 10:30 on Friday March 29th followed by a Requiem Mass at St. Anne's, Readville at 12 Noon. Marie will be buried with her husband, Ken, at Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree. Marie knew that she would be entering a new life in heaven and so those coming to her services should wear bright spring clothes in celebration - not in mouring.
