MOAN, Kenneth Lee Passed away on April 26, 2011 in Front Royal, Virginia, after a long illness. He was born in Benton, Ohio on November 18, 1945 to the late David Theodore and Eleanor (Berube) Moan. After growing up in Dorchester and Roslindale, he moved with his family to Readville where he graduated from Saint Anne's School, then from Mission High School in Roxbury where he learned Russian. After enlisting in the Army in December 1965, he was assigned to advanced Russian Language training in Monterey and spent his career in the U.S. Army Intelligence Service in posts in Germany including West Berlin and Augsburg. While in the Army, he earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland and a Master's degree from Boston College. After retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer-3, he worked for several defense contractors in Northern Virginia, including CSTI and Booz-Allen-Hamilton. A long-time resident of Manassas, Virginia, he moved to the Shenandoah Valley in 2006. He married Marie Elaine Fisk on December 26, 1966 and was the father of Christine Moan and Carolyn McHenry (Mark) and grandfather to Joshua and David McHenry. He is survived by sisters Kathleen Regan (Paul), Linda Poire (Patrick), Cheryl Chopchitz (Joseph), Patricia McDonald, and Diane Savioli (Egino) and brother Edward (Diane Salman), brothers-in-law Allan (Darlene) and Raymond Fisk (Sue Ann) and sister-in-law, Julia Mosley (Raymond) and numerous nephews and nieces. Ken was a devoted Catholic, serving as a Eucharistic Minister and making rosary beads for the missions. He was also an avid Amateur Radio Operator. Viewing will be Friday morning 8:30-9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass being celebrated by long time friend Fr. Edward Nedder at St. Anne's Church, Readville at 10. A memorial service will be held in Virginia at a later date.
