HUGHES, James P. Of Hyde Park, passed peacefully on March 26, 2019, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 74. Beloved husband of Patricia (Varney) of 48 years. Extremely devoted father of Keith Hughes and his wife Melissa of Webster and Jennifer Thomas and her husband Alex of Canton. Cherished brother of Carole Cooper and her husband Ed of Maine, Robert and his wife Amy of Washington, William and his wife Marge of Marshfield, and his late twin Jackie. Loving and supportive "Papa" of Jake Ford, Jake, Owen, Cole, AJ, Travis, and Chase. Also survived by many loving relatives and great friends. Visiting hours will be held Monday evening, from 4-8 p.m. at the Carroll-Thomas Funeral Home, 22 Oak St., HYDE PARK. Children's room available. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Church, Hyde Park. Relatives and friends invited. Interment will be private at family's request. James was an extremely dedicated City of Boston employee (Building Superintendent) for over 30 years, and a former member of the Hyde Park Lions. Jimmy truly enjoyed spending time with his close circle of friends. Jimmy loved and supported his family and cherished spending time on various vacations, or just going to the beach. His biggest passion was the love for his grandchildren and he supported their every move and he was a fixture at whatever hockey rink they were playing at. Jimmy will be greatly missed by all.
